How do i get started?

Fred Astaire Dance Studios is just a phone call away. Private lessons can be scheduled anytime during our business hours. Call now to set an appointment for your first consultation lesson.

Do I need any experience?

No. At Fred Astaire, we enjoy those two left feet! Our Instructors make learning to dance fun and exciting at any level.

Do I need a partner?

No. Here at Fred Astaire Dance Studios we teach both singles and couples. If you come in as one of our single students, your instructor will be your partner for your private lesson. Our practice parties and group classes will provide plenty of opportunity to meet other students with the same interests and goals.

What is a private lesson?

All lessons are 40 minute sessions; the hours of instruction are Monday-Friday 12pm-9pm and Saturday by appointment only. Private instruction is tailored to your personal needs. Learning at your own pace is the optimum method of comprehension and that is what private instruction enforces. One common misconception about private lessons is that they take place in seclusion. On the contrary; up to ten private lessons could be going on at the same time in our Ballroom. Our students have found that learning in this environment has given them a major advantage in social dance settings.

Will my lessons be at the same time every week?

Not necessarily. In order to accommodate your busy schedule, we attempt to be as flexible as possible. We also recommend that you schedule your lessons a few weeks in advance in order to reserve your preferred times.

How should I dress for my lesson?

Comfort and class is what we encourage. Comfortable leather soled shoes dance best on our ballroom floor. Any type of sling-backs, tennis shoes or boots are discouraged.

What is a newcomers practice party?

Our Newcomer's Practice Parties are held on Friday nights. These venues are meant to ease you into real life social dancing situations. All of our staff are on hand to help you as you practice what you've learned during the week. Check our studio's calendar for our monthly schedule.

What is a group class?

Our Group Classes are designed to be taken in addition to your private lessons. We offer a variety of Topics to better your technique, physical fitness, and understanding of ballroom dance. In order to attend our Group Classes, you must regularly attend private lessons as well. Check our studio's calendar for our monthly schedule.

What is a guest party?

Once a month, we sponsor a champagne guest party. Similar to an Open House, this party gives students the chance to introduce their friends to the world of ballroom dancing and all of its benefits, while earning complimentary lessons for themselves!. We have floor shows demonstrating the various levels of dance, performed by both students and staff. Reservations are preferred for the guest party, so call ahead to let us know that you and your friends plan to attend. Check our studio calendar for our monthly schedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to the growing popularity of ballroom dancing, we appreciate that our students cancel any lesson at least 24 hours ahead of time to avoid being charged.
